Description
During the Tang dynasty, lychees embodied luxury, desire, and devotion. An Emperor Xuanzong dispatched entire cavalry relays to deliver them fresh for his beloved Yang Guifei, the lychee became an emblem of passion and imperial excess. In this image, the fruit is reimagined as mask, crown, and constellation, suggesting a love so consuming it erases the self. What was once fleeting flesh is here transfigured into timeless majesty.
